2. PROCESS WORK

2.1 Lalin

Figure 2.1.1 Lalin Storyboard, Week 2 (27/4/2026)

We were first given the footage, graphics, and storyboard in a Google Drive. Then, we had to edit our version of the short film using the storyboards provided.

In week 8, we were taught about colour correction and colour grading, which had to be applied to the Lalin edit.

I initially wanted to make the colour grading warmer, so the colour correction part was also done to be slightly orange.

I felt that the warmer tones really only matched the scenes of the girl but not the guy, so I tried changing the colour grading to a cooler tone.

2.2 Movie Trailer

After the recording session on week 6, we were required to edit a movie trailer with the scenes.

Figure 2.2.1 Background Music, Week 6 (29/5/2026)

I started by looking for background music on YouTube, where I found this video. The audio was pretty straightforward, so the video itself was basically used as inspiration.

With the background music selected, I proceeded to edit the video according to the beats from the music. I also muted the original clips and added in the seperately recorded audios and sound effects.

Once the video was done, I started with the colour correction and colour grading process. I decided to go with a greenish hue like how it was in some scenes in the actual movie. I also added vignette and made the shadows harsher for a more cinematic look.

3. REFLECTION

Both of these tasks were quite fun, especially the filming for exercise 2. However, since the file sizes of the videos were so large, the lag when editing the videos made the process really annoying. It took me a long time to just get one thing done as everytime I tried to edit something it would stop responding. Besides that though, it was quite interesting to play around with the colours for both videos. I got to explore and learn more about curves which I never really understood, I did have to wing it and just experiment a lot but the process allowed me to better understand how the colours shift when adjusting the curves. Overall, I found this assignment pretty enjoyable and would like to apply the knowledge learnt to future projects.
